Celebrate

Inspired by nothing but the favorite color of an acquaintance (purple) and one of my new Martha Stewart border punches (Daisy Dot), I came up with the following birthday card:

I stamped a tag from Cuttlebug Tiny Tags using PTI's Mega Mixed Messages (Brilliance Pearlescent Lime green ink from Tsukineko) and strung it on some lime green ribbon. You can't tell but the sentiment was embossed with Kaleidoscope from Stampendous. The flowers on the plain purple cardstock were done randomly with Versamark ink (Stef's suggestion!). Tiny adhesive pearls are between each of the daisies of the punched border.

Very simple yet cute!

(Big!) Baby Bee

Nothing can describe the excitement and sheer joy elicited from a Papertrey parcel delivery and opening! Here's my new Baby Button Bits and Pretty Pastels patterned paper!

I just couldn't find the perfect button so, at Stef's amazing suggestion, took a large self-adhesive jewel and colored it with copics! I used Y26 Mustard and, obviously, 100 Black.

My camera really sucks so I can't get any close-ups of the wings... I stamped the bee onto some vellum and cut them out, folding them a bit to make them stick up off the card.

Happy Birthday Easel Card

Happy Birthday

I made the following for my brother-in-law:

I stitched the sentiment using a Bazzill InStitchz template using a brad that looks like a screw over the 'i'. I then added a streamer from the Cuttlebug die and embossing combo called Take the Cake. The white border is just white gel pen.

Little stitching tip: Only cut enough embroidery thread for one word at a time... Would've gone much faster!!

Vintage Paper Flowers

I saw this post on Dawn's blog when it came out in Jan but I didn't really think to post about her video tutorial on these cute flowers until now! Check it out here!

Home Sweet Home

This card is for my sis-in-law and her husband who recently moved into their first home!

I thought that if they wanted, they could take this card and stick it in a cheap frame and put it in their foyer or something. It's a bunch of 3-D fun!

First, I stitched 'sweet' using letters from Bazzill's In Stitchz in kraft cardstock (which I matted onto a dark brown cardstock). The 'HOME' letters are from the Storybook Cricut cartridge, the clouds are from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge and the grass is from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. The sun was a couple of pre-cuts that my mom gave me eons ago.

In order to color the letters, I left them on the cutting mat and used Sugared Almond Pink (RV02) and Fuschia (RV09) copics. I used the same method to color the 2 strips of grass, only with Grass Green (YG17) and Chartreuse (YG13) copics.

The front cloud is popped up with foam tape. The front grass strip is popped up with a double strip of foam tape in consideration of the depth of the clothespin flowers (thank you, Stef!) that I clipped on at the end.

Playing with Crackle Paint

I had to try out my grungeboard and crackle paint!

After crumpling up my card in order to distress it (Tim Holtz Walnut Stain), I realized that I really should have just crumpled and distressed a mat. Whoops!

Also, I finished this card in a very big hurry and so did not give it any extra sort of details. Oh, well.

Who can handle that much cheese???

Lucky Me Family

March St. Patrick's day themed page. Take a picture of your family in March, circle the date the photo was taken in the circle of date numbers around the stamp 'MAR' on the scallop circles cut using Spellbinder's Nestabillities. The large golden shamrocks were cut using the cricut and the text using the Curved Learning cartridge.

Both the scalloped circle and the text "Lucky Me" is raied with 3D tape.

This turned out to be a gift for my friend Stef. We are all lucky to have family, those that we love and are very dear to us.

Thinking of You

"Get Well Soon" seemed inappropriate for someone who had been diagnosed with cancer and so this was my end result. Very quick, very simple, but I got to use my new Labels 4 Spellbinders Nestabilities and try stenciling for the first time (I used Tim Holtz Scattered Straw distress ink).

Grandmother

I was so touched by my grandmother sending Valentines for each of the children, that I made up a thank you/Valentine card for her.

This is a different style for myself but when I saw this chipboard sitting on my pegboard, it said "Grandma" to me. The butterfly trail is beaded wire that I got at Michael's for like 50 cents. I stitched it to the paper in a few strategic locations. The patterned paper was distress inked with Tim Holtz Tea Dye which was not quite the color I meant to use but worked out alright. I then distressed the edges of the paper with my Tim Holtz tool. The stamp is from Papertrey Ink's Women of Life set and has 3 tiny pearls in front of it.

Adorable

I actually have one scrapbook page that I'm not publishing... Gotta fix it first.

This is an interesting look for me... This page just kinda came together like this and I'm okay with it.

Those blotches scattered all over the page are our latest tool: Liquid Pearls.

It's time. Time to reveal my scrapbooking pages. Please keep in mind that I'm an amateur!

The following is my first page ever--started in 2005 and finished in 2009!

All-Purpose Card

This one will hang around until I have a need for it. Then I will stamp a little sentiment in the space below the flower.

This card started out as a Copic testing exercise. I didn't have perfect blending colors but I made what I had work. I think the colors I used were RV10 Pale Pink, RV25 Dog Rose Flower, RV09 Fuschia but I'm not sure... The flower (Inkadinkadoo stamps) turned out more red than bright pink, but still pretty. I cut it out and pop-dotted it over top of the same stamp on the kraft cardstock (sort of a shadow effect).

The "stem" is a flourish from Bazzill's In Stitchz. It was my first time sewing on a card and I loved it!

I made a matching envelope using my Scor-Pal.

Addendum: This card became a get well soon card for my husband's aunt.

Congratulations

Keeping in mind that Michael is a traditional man, having had the dream since elementary school to become a Doctor, plus wanting to lend an air of sophistication due to this career choice, and using the colours in his graduation photo, this is the end result. Michael may have been the one that went to school for eight years up to this point, but we both rejoiced in the achievment. I, because I had gone through it with him for seven years while being a stay-at-home-mom, having had three children by this time. So the "Congratulations" is for both of us. (Congratulations text done on the Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge)

I rounded oposing corners of the black paper and on the red the opposite corners. Then I box pleated the ribbon at the rounded corners of the black paper around the photo and the page trying to suggest a traditional elegance while adding a bit of softness.

The text here is computer generated directly onto the cardstock. I used a regular paper hole punch on the corners of the ivory paper. On the red paper I rounded opossing corners again. I do regret placing the brads in those corners since it hides the rounded corners a little. The idea here was to generate a "plaque" look.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the result.

Message Book

This is the Visiting Teaching message for the month of February. I can't take the credit for the actual idea of this item; though I did make it my own in some ways. the credit goes to Jennifer from http://handpickeddaisy.blogspot.com/
This is only one of the two that I made. Since I used scraps, each has a different look. I did not get photos of the other. This is the apperance of the booklet when closed. The heart is cut on the Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. Three hearts folded in half and adhered together.

Note the stamp used here is throughout the booklet.

More hearts of verying sizes placed over repeated stamped images.

Using the cover of the double sided tape rolls that I kept, I turned one upside down to create a circular shaker box. Inside, I placed several hearts of varying sizes, while having stmaped "Happy Valentines Day" on the backing of the circle. I glued it down and then glued on a ring/border to cover the rim of the circle. Then to the right of the box, more stamps with a heart.

This is a close up of the circular shaker box. I appologize that the image is not as clear as I would like it to be.

Next, you see a flower made larger by placing hearts in a circle under it.

All text in this booklet was printed from the computer.

I had fun making these for the women I visit every month.

More Scrap Cards

I have so many scraps, and was in the mood to create just off the cuff as I went along instead of actually planning out the card first. These cards are the result.

Here I stmaped and heat embossed the stem of the flower on a seperate piece of cardstock, adding the flower with brad at the top.

The leaves here are from Cricut's Storybook cartridge with jewels randomly embelishing the bush.

Flowers were cut using Cricut's Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and decorated with tiny brads.

Here, I found in my scraps a stirp that had flowers cut out of it. It is a different effect. The blue scrap on the left, I used Martha Stewart's border punch. This one was fun to create due to the bright and cheerful colours, and because it is not my usual style.

In using just scraps for these cards, the colours lended well for a Baby card. I wanted this one to be used for either a boy or girl. I used another of Martha Stewart's border punches ans jewled the dot of the 'i'.

This was another fun card to make. "What other colour goes with yellow?" I asked myself. Black of course. This is the first time that I used self-adhesive embellishments of this nature. These ones are from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I then used 05-Melon green SPICA to fill in the leaves, and little rhinestones in the small circles along the vines.

I love how this card turned out. I amazed myself when it came to the stamping of the heart. I used Dew Drop's Memneto Rhubard ink, but the coverage was not as solid and dark as I wanted it to be and ended up having to stamp the heart three times before it was acceptable to me. You can't even tell that I had to do that. So I amazed myself.

Yellow scrapes again! Well blue goes with yellow. I used a Martha Stewart border punch again, and used the Cuttlebug with butterfly die cut. When embossing th butterfly with one of the folders, I inked the front side of the folder. The lighter blue paper embossed shows up raised over the darker blue ink. This turned out great. I embellished the body of the butterfly with adhesive half pearls.

Yellow, blue, and pink - again. I thought that these would be good as Easter colours too, and Easter is not far off. I used the "Happy" from a Happy Birthday stamp, and on the Cricut cut "Easter" using the Designer Calendar cartridge. The vines with blue flowers was a piece cut off from a 12" self-adhesive embellishment strip that I purchased at one of our local dollar stores.

I had fun making these cards from scraps. Of course I did not use all my scraps, and will more than likely make more cards in the near future.
